Breeding Beef
1. Judging will begin Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. breeding beef showmanship classes (See Beef Showmanship Section).

I. Two year old heifer, born May 1 to August 31, 2006. Must be bred.

Market Steers
1. Judging will begin Thursday after the 8:30 a.m. steer showmanship classes (See Beef Showmanship Section).

4. Junior Fair exhibitors may only exhibit and show a maximum of two market steers regardless of the number of steer projects taken in their respective organization(s) (4-H/FFA inclusive).
5. Minimum weight is 900 pounds for beef and dairy beef steers.
6. Steer classes will be established according to hip-height.
7. Animals eligible for classes 35 and 36 must have conformed to the Livestock Sale Committee rules.
8. The Bred, Born and Raised (BBR) class shall be held Tuesday in conjunction with the Open Class Beef Breeding Show.
9. Only animals bred, born and raised in Richland County are eligible for the BBR class. In addition, animals not nominated on steer identification day will be ineligible for awards and sale.
Feeder Calves
1. Judging will begin Monday after the 10:00 a.m. feeder calf showmanship classes (See Beef Showmanship Section).
2. NO PREMIUMS FOR MARKET SALE AND/OR NON-SALE CLASSES

4. Junior Fair exhibitors may only exhibit and show two feeder calves regardless of the number of feeder calf projects taken in their respective organization(s) (4-H/FFA inclusive).
5. Dairy feeder calves must be castrated males and dehorned by identification day.
6. Beef feeder calves may be castrated males (must be castrated and dehorned by tagging day) or beef heifers (must be dehorned by tagging day)..
7. Feeder calf weight must be 350 - 650 pounds.
8. Animals eligible for classes 45 and 46 must have conformed to the Livestock Sale Committee rules.
BRED, BORN AND RAISED STEER SHOW (BBR SHOW)
1. Judging will begin Tuesday, at approximately 1:00 p.m.
2. This show is for any steer that is being shown within the Junior Fair and is a bred, born & raised steer of Richland County.
3. Classes will be established according to hip height.
4. Animals shown in this contest must be registered as a Richland County Junior Fair project.
5. Minimum weight is 900 pounds for beef and dairy beef steers as is established in the Jr. Fair Steer Rules.
6. Current exhibitors must use their own animals.
7. Animals eligible for this show must have conformed to the Livestock Sale Committee Rules.
8. No separate entry is needed for this class. Entry is established from BBR nominations at the designated market steer tagging & weigh-in day held in December.
BEEF SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES
********** MUST SIGN UP FOR SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES THE DAY BEFORE THE SHOW! ************
1. Order of showmanship classes will be: 1) Senior, 2) Junior, 3) Novice, 4) Pro.
2. The first year a member shows any type of beef (steer, feeder calf or breeding beef) is their NOVICE year. Any succeeding years still in beef (any division), they must show as junior, senior, etc., but NOT novice. If first year exhibitor is in more than one division, the first beef showmanship class entered during the current year must be novice. The second will be according to their age class. There will be a Novice A (8 to 13 year-olds) and Novice B (14 years and older) for feeder calves.
3. THE SHOWMAN OF SHOWMEN CONTEST, the overall beef showmanship winner, will be determined by a show-off of the beef breeding, steer and feeder calf pro showmanship winners. This show-off will be held immediately following the pro steer showmanship class. Exhibitor not permitted to use their own animal in the show-off.
4. In 2008 feeder calves will be used for the beef species showoff. The rotation of animals in the following years will be, steers, beef breeding, and feeder calves respectively. The location of the show-off will be determined annually by the Jr. Fair Superintendent. A different judge (other than steer show judge) will be used for the beef showmanship show-off.
5. SHOWMAN OF SHOWMEN CONTEST -- If a person wins more than one Pro Showman class (beef species), a drawing will be held between the categories. Division drawn will have second place person participate in the show-off for the beef representative to the Showman of Showmen Contest.

10. Market goats must be born after January 1, current year. Each exhibitor may only bring and weigh two market goat animals (boer and dairy combined). Boer and dairy goat determinations will be made on goat identification day.
11. All market goats must weigh a minimum of 65 pounds.
12. Animals eligible for classes #115 and #215 must have conformed to the Livestock Sale Committee rules.
13. One goat per member per class, except Mother and Daughter class, market class or harness goat team, with total of six goats shown per member for premium.
14. No bucks for show on the fairgrounds.
15. Horns are not recommended on any market or dairy goat exhibited at the county fair, but if intact, may be no longer than one inch in length.
GOAT SHOW DAY DRESS CODE: Sleeved, collared shirt, jeans (or skirt), hard soled shoes (in addition to other livestock show day dress codes). For other Jr. Fair Activities see Dress Code Rule # 56.

4. Market pen of four broilers must originate from designated county pool.
5. Pen of four market broilers must have a combined minimum weight of at least 12 pounds and not to exceed 26 pounds. (See Broiler Rules)
6. Market turkey project must originate from designated pool.
7. Market turkey must weigh a minimum of 20 pounds.
8. Market ducks – pen of 2, from designated pool (coordinated by Brenda & David Thompson) must weigh at least 10 lbs. combined weight.
9. Animals eligible for market classes 125, 145 and 147 must have conformed to the Livestock Sale Committee rules.
10. Weigh-in day for broilers, turkeys & ducks shall be Saturday (day prior to fair) from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Poultry Barn.
11. In the event of illness, injury or death of one or more market broilers or market ducks, exhibitors of the pen of broilers or ducks may not substitute birds from another Junior Fair exhibitor, or any other source, to complete the pen of four/two requirement.
PEN OF 4 MARKET BROILERS
1. All champions will sell at the sale.
2. Birds will be from a NPIP approved hatchery (selected by the Extension Office) and ALL birds shown in this class must come from the designated pool (birds not to be older than seven weeks of age on show day). Must be owned and cared for by exhibitor 48 hrs.after hatching.
3. Exhibitors are limited to one entry in the broiler meat pen class.
4. Exhibitors are required to check in four (4) birds but, show three (3) birds.
5. Meat pen birds must be weighed in at designated times as stated above. No sorting of birds will be allowed after arrival at the fair. Only the four birds weighed in will be eligible to compete in the show. Exhibitors must bring all four (4) birds to the weigh station where all four (4) birds will be weighed together.
6. Maximum total weight for four (4) birds in the meat pen class is 26 pounds, minimum weight is 12 pounds. One-half (1/2) pound break will be used for poultry. Any pen over/under weight limit will be placed in the non-sale class.
7. On judging day, all Junior Fair exhibitors must be present to bring their birds to the judging table. The Junior Fair exhibitors will only be assisted by other Junior Fair exhibitors or other ring personnel if the need for assistance is required. NO other person will be allowed to assist the Junior Fair exhibitors during the show or judging.

130 - Saddle horse – only one entry (horse) per exhibitor. Animals may not be shared by any exhibitor. Class choices shall largely conform to those at the Ohio State Fair. For a complete show bill, listing of awards and class requirements, refer to the Richland County Junior Fair Horse Handbook.
131 - Production Horse - only horses officially designated as a part of a premium class exhibit and participate in a premium class shall be eligible for entry in competitive horse activities, including, but not limited to, the Horse King & Queen Contest, Reining Show and Versatility Show.
4. Horses designated and required as premium class entries will be eligible for the Thursday and Saturday Fair Fun Shows. Only project (including back-up) horse may be used for county fair events.
5. Exhibitors are encouraged to show in more than one class on premium day, but only one class will be counted as the participation for premium class.
6. Western horses shall measure more than 58" in height. Ponies shall be under 58". If classes are not divided by horse and ponies, the horse/exhibitor may show in the horse class.
7. Only foals that are entered as a production project and has appropriate horse registration for each animal, received by May 15, 2008. Advisors have until June 1 to make any additions or changes in registration) will be eligible to be shown in the Richland County Junior Fair.

4-H: All exhibits must be in place by 5:45 p.m. Saturday, August 2, and remain in place until released at 8 a.m. Sunday, August 10. Demonstrations
1. Pre-registration is required by July 1 (unless July 1 falls on Saturday or Sunday then the deadline is the following Monday) to the Extension office. All participants must be 4-H members (Cloverbuds not eligible).
2. Judging will be held pre-fair on Wednesday, July 9 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Schedules will be released prior to the contest.
3. All presentations must be demonstrations or illustrated talks and follow state guidelines.
4. No large animals (i.e., horse, beef, dairy, swine over 20 pounds) shall be used in a 4-H demonstration. Participants should adjust the topic of the demonstration to use model animals. Any animal used under 20 pounds must meet the fair health requirements.
5. Demonstrations should be a minimum of 6 minutes and a maximum of 12 minutes in length.

Junior Fair King and Queen Contest
1. Participants may be a boy or girl who is between 15 - 18 years of age as of January 1, current year, not married and/or not borne a child so they may be a State Fairs Queen competitor in 2009 (Girls Only). Expectant or current father (cannot be married) is not permitted to participate in the King category.
2. Participants must be an active member of a youth organization eligible to participate in the Richland County Junior Fair.
3. Participants must be a current year Richland County Junior Fair exhibitor.
4. Any organization which is a part of the Richland County Junior Fair may nominate one or more of its members to participate.
5. Contestant applications are due July 17 in the Extension Office.
6. All contestants will participate in an orientation and “Tea" on Saturday, prior to the fair.
7. All contestants will be interviewed by a panel of judges on Saturday just prior to the fair.
8. The pageant (final presentations by contestants) will be held on Sunday evening at the fair.

Talent Show
1. Entry forms must be submitted by Sunday, first day of the fair by 9:00 p.m. Program is Monday, at 5:00 p.m. in the Hartz Building.
2. Participants may enter more than one category, but not more than one entry in any category.
3. Cloverbud 4-H members are not eligible for this contest.
4. Each presentation may only be considered for awards in one category.
5. Participation in Junior Fair shows and activities are reserved for Junior Fair exhibitors who are registered with the Junior Fair program by April 1 of the current year. Only officially registered exhibitors may participate and compete for awards and recognition in official, competitive Junior Fair shows and/or activities.
6. Vocal category must be singing alone. In other words, your voice must be the solo voice heard. Singing along with the original artist does not qualify.
7. If category has less than three participants, participants will be moved to the Miscellaneous Category.
8. Selection of class winners based on: 1) overall presentation, 2) creativity, 3) talent, 4) poise in delivery and 5) personal appearance.
9. Best of Show award - winner in each category will compete for this award.
All performers must follow the dress code for Junior Fair activities – exception made for outfits that are appropriate for a presentation (i.e., majorette or dance costume) as long as they are in good taste. If a particular outfit/costume is not required/needed for a particular performance, then the dress code will apply. If the outfit/costume is in question, contestants should check with the Junior Fair Superintendent for a review. Review committee will review all costumes/garments used by contestants.

2008 Style Revue
The process is as follows:
1. Entry forms (including narration) will be due at judging on July 17 by 12:00 noon.
2. Clothing interview judging will be done from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on a first-come, first-served basis on Thursday, July 17 in the John Hartz Building.
3. Style Revue circle judging will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17 with times assigned by project area. (Exhibitor must participate in circle judging in order to be eligible for awards and State Fair participation on Friday during Style Revue.)
4. Individual classes will then proceed to the stage area for modeling (after circle judging). Junior and Senior Model – selected from all participants in the Junior and Senior age divisions. Junior: 4-H member 13 years or under as of January 1. Senior: 4-H member 14 years and older as of January 1.
5. All clothing projects will be considered for Construction Award. No separate application process for Construction Award. Awards given for outstanding construction of garments. Construction Awards do not require Style Revue participation.
6. State Fashion Board Representative - 4-H member 14 years or older as of January 1, current year, who will represent Richland County at the current Ohio State Fair. Participant must be one of the county's State Fair representatives. Selections for the State Fashion Board will take place at the 2009 Ohio Teen Conference in Columbus

1. Pre-fair Style Revue to be held on Friday, July 18 in the John Hartz Building.
2. Building to open at 6:00 p.m. Participants to be ready and lined up by 6:30 p.m. Style Revue to begin at 7:00 p.m.
